S & C E Marshall - Confectioner and Baker. (SRB).

Marshall's unique claim to fame is the renowned 'Southwold Butter Bun' made to a secret recipe developed by the family. The recipe (still secret) was passed exclusively to Hutson's Butchers and Delicatessen and later to their successors, Mills and Sons & Daughter at No 23 Market Place, where the delicacy is today available on three days a week. S & C E Marshall - Confectioner and Baker. (SRB1954). In Coronation year, 1953, Mr Marshall bakes the town's commemorative cake in the form of a model of Buckingham Palace. Every child receives a slice at the celebratory street party. The cake weighs 117 lbs and has been designed by Ethel M Rowe. See photo supplied by Mrs Rowe's daughter, Heather Osmer.
